She is a mixed media portrait I created from one of my art drawings developed from a sketch.

I then layered the piece with a touch of color and some texture in Photoshop Elements.

 The girl with flowers in her hair can be used as a whimsical wall art for your creative space,

or as a sweet addition to your personal journals.

As a journal page;
she can be secured on a journal page right onto a
blank page in your journal by using glue, double sided tape, etc.
The journal page can even be printed smaller and
randomly placed in your art journal or diaries with glue or staples.

Using a sewing machine or hand stitching this girl
onto a page right onto a blank page in your journal
creates a rustic feel and texture. 

You can incorporate her as a journal page into an already made journal or store bought journal for an extra page.

She is a wonderful backdrop for a journal entry
or scrap booking background.

You could also set your printer to print in black and white,

and add your your color love to her with your personal mixed media style!

She can be framed and hung up in your creative work space
for an added touch of whimsy to a bare wall or shelf in your home.

Mother and Daughter Art Day with our new Jane Davenport Mixed Media Art Supplies.

We discovered Jane Davenport's Mixed Media Line at Michaels!

It was quite difficult to resist this mixed media line she created. My daughter and I now have a
Butterfly Effect Book Cover/Journal;

and just love, love them.

We also couldn't resist the face stamp sets, the Mermaid Markers which we really-really love, the Mixed Media Paper Pad,
and of course her washi tape!

We are still on a searching expedition to locate and get our hands on the Petite Palette Water Colors tin sets!

My daughter and I were so inspire by all of the delicious color and creative beauty in Jane Davenport's art supplies;

we had to have a Mother and Daughter art day/night.

These are the first flower girls we created in our Butterfly Effect Books.

The Mermaid Markers worked beautifully.

We are looking forward to creating more with Jane Davenport's Mixed Media supplies.

It was so much fun, and creatively easy to create these flower girls with the face stamps, and mermaid markers!

Editing a Mixed Media Girl from my Art Journal in Lightroom and Photoshop Elements

A while back, I created a mixed media art girl in my Moleskine Journal using Jane Davenport's face stencil.

Mixed media art is another one of my passions;

when I'm not after getting the perfect photograph, my creative fix is satisfied with drawing and playing with paint!

Sadly though, creating with paint and pencils is something I don't do enough.    

I really did enjoy creating her and loved how she turned out;

I had a lot of fun created her!

I tried to remember what exactly I use to create her...

I used a soft pencil to sketch her out.

Prismacolor Premiere pencil crayons and some acrylic paints for her face and hair.

Daler Rowney Sytem 3; water based acrylic colours for more color in her hair and the background.

For splashes of colors; Daler Rowney Pearlescent liquid Acrylics.

Dylusions ink sprays for drips, drips, and more drips!

A Prismacolor premier fine line marker for fine outlining, and a black Sharpie China marker for smudging and creating shadows.

And of course, the well used, white Gelly roll pen for eyes, highlights and swirls.

Some time had past since I created her, and then the photographer in me thought what if I took a quick picture of her

and

edited it my Lightroom photo editing program and Photoshop Elements.

Editing and manipulating mixed media art with a little photo editing 'fun' would be a happy discover of endless versions of her original look in my art journal.

YAY!

This is what I created...

Dark and moody, soft blues and greens.

This black and white grainy effect is one of my most loved edits.

A warmer 'Instagram' tone, and skewed the perspective a little.

An enhanced vibrant punch of color!

Some of the photo edits above were created with the VSCO film 03 Lightroom presets. VSCO film presets are a collection of wonderfully, beautiful designed film presets that emulate certain camera-film looks that are created with a specific camera in mind; all of which work in Lightroom.

With many film preset collections to choose from,
I have been lucky enough to purchase one set;
the VSCO film preset 03!

Cropping, different angles or perspectives were skewed in some of the final edits done in Photoshop Elements.

I loved digitally editing my mixed media girl,

and now I look forward to creating more art to give some extra creative editing to in Lightroom and Photoshop Elements!
